Frequently Asked Questions
Heat treated pallets are required for all wood packaging material used in international shipments.
Wooden pallets are made from organic material. This means the ground they grow from is not only full of nourishment but a attracts a wide range of insects and bacteria. Without proper treatment these insects and bacteria can easily be transported from part of the world to another in the wooden pallet they now live in. Heat Treatment that conforms to ISPM 15 guidelines is an effective way of killing off larva and insects before transportation.
Pallet boxes and crates are heated to a core temperature of 140 degrees for a minimum of 30 minutes. Once this process has been completed each pallet is stamped with an internationally recognised badge that means goods can be transported more easily.
Udee Pallets is certified to deliver heat treated pallets at our facilities in Liverpool and we are able to deliver heat treated pallets in large numbers, to order and deliver to our customers throughout the UK.

- Our suppliers are able to meet all ISPM-15 mandates.
- We offer both heat-treated and treated pallets.
- When constructing pallets with green lumber, insects often live in the freshly cut wood. Heat treating pallets raises the temperature of the wood to dispose of any remaining bugs, which prevents them from spreading between companies and countries.
- Heat treatment is mandated by U.S. customs under the ISPM-15 program. It requires that all pallets that enter and exit the country.
- When you heat treat a pallet, the unique operator number is stamped on the outside of one of the stringers.
- Heat treating prices vary, but typically costs between $0.75 to $1.25 per pallet.
- Pallets only need to be heat-treated once; however when a heat-treated pallet is repaired with new wood, it must be treated again to ensure the entire pallet is protected against bugs.
- Pressed wood pallets are pallets made with wood chips and glue and have “feet” instead of stringers. They are bug-free and don’t need to be heat-treated, making them an excellent exporting pallet.
- Udee only offers wood and pressed wood pallets.
- 93 percent of the pallets in cycle across the world. are wooden. Wood pallets are easier to recycle and repair than plastic or metal pallets, making them a sustainable packaging staple. We’re proud of our green initiatives and are happy to provide our clients with a sustainable way to handle their reusable packaging materials.
- Pallet repair, recovery, and return is only one part of reverse logistics.
- Reverse logistics applies to anything that has value in your supply chain (not just pallets) and may or may not include asset repairs. Anything that goes forward into delivery can be reversed, so that we can apply reverse logistics to any of your reusable packaging materials. If the packaging material is no longer usable at the time of pick-up, your reverse logistics partner can dispose of the materials for you.
- For example, if your company uses OSB board in the transfer of its products, we can help return the OSB board back to you after delivery. By wrapping and returning the reusable packaging materials to be used again, your company can save time and money on supply chain logistics.
- Pallet Repair, Recovery, and Return, on the other hand, is a subset of reverse logistics, applies specifically to wooden pallets, and can save you more than 25 percent per pallet.
- When implementing a pallet recovery system, we’ll create a closed-loop system that allows you to cut costs and extend the life of your pallets through consistent pallet repair.
- With our pallet recovery system, you’re able to reuse the same pallet three to four times per year for up to an average of eight years. By reusing pallets, some of our loyal customers have reduced pallets costs from $75 per pallet, with the cost to reuse this same pallet equaling $25 per pallet, per trip. This can be sustained over 4 shipments per year with an asset life of 8 years.
- We pay fair market prices for all pallets. Prices vary based on customer location.
Although it may seem a little confusing, by offering the different pallet sizes, we can offer you the best possible rate for delivering your pallet. We don’t want you to have to pay for a full 2m high pallet when you’re sending an item 1m high, which would be classified as a 1/2 pallet. We would ask you to accurately measure the goods to ensure you are charged correctly. The collection company will measure your pallet to ensure it corresponds with what you have booked. If the pallet is oversized, it will be held by our depot until the additional payment has been made to release it.
You will need to know the dimensions of the item you wish to transport and the approximate weight. You will also need the full collection and delivery address (with postcodes) and telephone numbers for both – if you can provide a mobile phone number as well, this will speed up any delivery/collection issues.
All collection and delivery vehicle’s carry pallet trucks and the vehicles are fitted with tail-lifts. The driver will move the pallet onto the tail-lift of the vehicle using the pump truck and ensure the pallet is safely placed on the vehicle. The maximum weight the tail-lift can carry is 1,000kg. To be able to use the pump truck effectively the surface must be flat and constructed of either tarmac or concrete. We are unable to move goods using a pump truck on a gravel drive or grass verge. All collections and deliveries are kerb-side. Unfortunately our drivers are unable to enter your premises to collect or deliver goods.
The price you pay is for one collection/delivery attempt. Commercial vehicles are not cheap to run and if the goods are not ready for collection, an additional charge of £20 plus VAT will be made. Collections and deliveries will be made between 10am until 5pm.
Whilst we are committed to get your pallet(s) to the destination on time, we cannot guarantee that everything will go to plan. All our vehicle are regularly serviced but breakdowns and incidents do happen. They can also get stuck in traffic jams and will, on occasion, be affected by adverse weather conditions! The one thing we will do is keep you informed until your pallet is collected / delivered. With European deliveries we endeavour to quote accurate delivery dates, however, the European vehicles coming to and from the UK can get held up due to the distance they have to travel. We unfortunately cannot be held responsible for the late delivery of pallets – particularly within Europe.
Yes you do. Once your order is placed, you will receive an email which will contain the tracking number for your consignment. Address labels must be placed on securely and on both short sides of the pallet. Once your pallet(s) is with us we will generate an address label with your consignment number which we will be able to track for you.
A pallet is a flat transportable structure made generally from wood, occasionally plastic, designed to support a variety of goods giving stability to the item whilst in transit. Goods must be placed securely on the pallet using strapping or shrink-wrap plastic film. It is essential your goods are secured in this way to ensure they do not move during transit.
